Steam Store Page: Memory’s Dogma
Memory’s Dogma‘s not really a complicated Visual Novel but I still thought it’s not a bad idea to write a short guide in case people want to avoid the bad endings or want to see all bad endings.
There’s one story ending and five bad endings.
All choices are timed! If you let the time run out, the game either picks a choice for you (normally the one you want to avoid) or in some cases treats it as an extra choice.
When a choice appears, it could either be one that only affects some lines of text right afterwards or one that could lead to one of the bad endings. After seeing a bad ending, you won’t be send back to the title screen but to an earlier point in the story the game set as a ‘save point’. Since it always takes some skipping to reach the choice in question again, I wrote down the line that appears right before the choice happens. Just click on quick save on the screen or save your game right at that point and load the save file after getting the bad ending. It’ll save you some time.
Some choices contain spoiler!

Wow, that was fast, Justy! And that’s a REALLY small choice tree that looks like the bad ends are almost immediate, leading to my next conclusion…it’s a linear VN…PLEASE TELL ME IT ISN’T. PLEASE. BECAUSE I HATE THOSE.
I was actually charmed by the art to be excited for this game (though not enough to buy it) ;__; I’m so sad that most of the choices don’t matter…
It’s a short VN (6-8 hours long) and only the first part of a series. I think there will be three parts altogether.
Yeah, it’s a linear VN and most bad ends are over pretty fast. The two last bad ends are a little better but still rather disappointing. There’s only one main ending.
Sekai Project hyped Memory’s Dogma up making me believe it will be something special. Well, the story idea’s interesting but it doesn’t stay pure sci-fi and makes a genre shift into chuuni/superpower-battle in the second half with generic villains and saving the world and all. It’s a shame because I liked the beginning of the VN.
Some characters felt out of place, like they came from some sort of fantasy/chuuni VN and not a sci-fi one. I’m not even sure how to feel about some characters because they get so little screen time despite being introduced as one of the main characters. They will probably be back in Memory’s Dogma Code: 02 but I still didn’t like how it was handled. At least the VN doesn’t end in a cliffhanger and has a proper conclusion (but with unanswered questions).
That’s unfortunate 😦 I’m glad that it’s not a stand alone game though.
