Oh wait…that’s not how the story goes. Anyway, the Caligula I want to talk about isn’t some merciless Roman Emperor but a…..*gasp* PS Vita game. Sounds like this one could be a brutal game including blood and sex going by the title but it’s nothing like that. The developer named it Caligula because they wanted attention and thought the name sounds cool! Just kidding lol. It’s more about the so-called Caligula effect, being tempted to do something prohibited. Breaking taboos.
The premise sounds pretty interesting and to top that off the developer got the Persona 2 writer on board.
I stumbled upon the opening of Sakura no Mori † Dreamers on Twitter which was the reason I decided to give the demo a go. I tend to like horror/mystery themed games and the opening made it look like something I’d enjoy. To my surprise, all other games in Moonstone’s catalogue look different from this one, more like your typical moe eroge. This seems to be their first attempt at doing a darker game with battles, monsters and murders.
