This is a trophy guide, explaining what you have to do in order to unlock every trophy. I won’t write a complete walkthrough but if you have any questions about the game I’ll try my best to answer them.
Please note that this guide contains spoiler. I tried to avoid mentioning (item) names and terms that are considered big spoiler but it’s not possible to keep everything completely spoiler free.
Some trophies are missable!
It takes around 40-50 hours to complete the main story and 30+ hours for the extra content

Please refrain from stealing (parts of) my guides. I put a lot of effort and time into writing this and don’t want to see other people copying it and claiming it as their own work! It happened with my Akiba’s Beat trophy guide, that’s why I’m putting this here. Please ask for permission if you want to use my guide for something.

Class Trial of the Century
—
There are 12 story related trophies in Danganronpa V3, you’ll unlock them simply by playing through the game.
Just According to Ronpa
Refute an argument
From a Certain Point of View
Present false evidence
—
Let’s start with the Class Trial related trophies! You will unlock both trophies while playing through the first Class Trial. Simply shoot a Truth Bullet at the correct weak point in a Nonstop Debate to earn Just According to Ronpa and shoot a Lie Bullet at the correct weak point to earn From a Certain Point of View.
Veni Vidi Vici
Perform a V-Refute, V-Agree, and V-Lie
—
So called V Points will give you bonus points when you shoot them in a Class Trial. I recommend to equip the skill Mind’s Eye to reveal the V Points hidden in Nonstop and Mass Panic Debate. The trophy’s easy to get because you only have to shoot a V Point at a yellow weak point, one at a blue weak point and one while using a Lie Bullet. Don’t forget that it has to be the correct weak point.
There’s another V Point related skill which’s very useful if you intend to keep shooting them down. It’s K1-B0’s personal skill, Digital Love. This skill will make the reticle lock on to nearby V Points while Concentrating. You’ll have to finish K1-B0’s free time events to receive the skill.
Master Silencer
Shoot down over 500 white noise
—
After a certain point white noise (reddish words and sentences) will start appearing during Nonstop and Mass Panic Debates. The only way to get rid of them is shooting them down and that’s what this trophy is about. Normally, it requires you to move the reticle over the white noise and shoot them before they disappear but that can get quite annoying and takes way too long. Fortunately, there’s a skill that makes things easier. The skill Point Blank allows the touch pad to be used to destroy white noise. Just keep tapping the touch pad and it keeps removing all white noise present on screen. You don’t even have to target them.
You can get the skill Point Blank in the casino at the prize exchange counter for 3,000 medals. It’s available as soon as you get access to the casino in chapter 2.
So What’s Wrong with Taking the Back Streets?
Take an alternate route during the Nonstop Debate
You’ll Never Know If You Don’t Go
Take every alternate route in a Nonstop Debate
—
Missable!
You will get introduced to this gameplay element right in the first Class Trial. Sometimes it’s necessary to lie using false evidence. These moments, however, don’t count towards the alternate route trophies. You will have to find situations in Nonstop Debates in which you can take the correct way OR lie your way through. They game doesn’t tell you when it’s possible to do this. You will have to find the alternate routes on your own.
Both trophies are missable! If you don’t get them in your first playthrough you will have to repeat the whole Class Trial. You can do that via chapter select, choosing ‘From the Start of the Class Trial’. The trophy You’ll Never Know If You Don’t Go doesn’t unlock right after taking the last alternate route, but at the result screen at the end of the Class Trial.
There are 9 alternate routes in total: one in chapter 1, two in chapter 2, two in chapter 3, two in chapter 4 and two in chapter 5.
—
Chapter 1:
Lie Bullet: Library Vent
Weak Point: Don’t lose sight of the truth
(Second half of Class Trial, after Hangman’s Gambit)
—
Chapter 2:
Lie Bullet: Water Tank Trick
Weak Point: The underwater Escape was no trick! It’s magic!
(First Nonstop Debate)
Lie Bullet: Alibis for yesterday
Weak Point: I believe most of us do not have one
(Second half of Class Trial, Nonstop Debate after Accuse)
—
Chapter 3:
Lie Bullet: [character name]’s flash light function
Weak Point: [character name] could’ve use that function to get under the floor…
(First half of Class Trial, Nonstop Debate after first Spot Selection)
Lie Bullet: The Caged Child
Weak Point: What if someone steered her into picking that room
(First Nonstop Debate after Class Trial break/start of second half)
—
Chapter 4:
Lie Bullet: Small Bottle of Poison
Weak Point: That’s when you poisoned her, right [character name]?
(First Nonstop Debate)
Lie Bullet: Signboard used as a bridge
Weak Point: There was nothing like that around, though!
(Second half of Class Trial, after Hangman’s Gambit)
—
Chapter 5:
Lie Bullet: Murder Video
Weak Point: [character name] got crushed to death…
(First half of Class Trial, after first Rebuttal Showdown)
Lie Bullet: Hatch’s Electronic Lock
Weak Point: So getting inside one would’ve been impossible
(First half of Class Trial, after first Hangman’s Gambit)
Bond. True Bond
Achieve the highest level bond with someone
You Need to Diversify Yo Bonds
Achieve the highest level bond with everyone
—
In every chapter you will get some free time to talk to characters and give them presents. If you choose something they like it triggers a Free Time Event. For Bond. True Bond you will have to see all five Free Time Events of any character and You Need to Diversify Yo Bonds requires you to watch all Free Time Events of all 15 characters.
Note: The Free Time Events in chapter 1 don’t count towards this.
It’s impossible to complete all Free Time Events in the main story even if you choose chapter select to repeat the free time part. Once you beat the game the extra mode Love Across the Universe: Dangan Salmon Team will be unlocked. This game lets you easily finish all missing Free Time Events. If you want to know more about this game, check A Bright Future Awaits Us.
Check this spreadsheet for more details on which presents to choose:
I recommend to give the characters their favorite items to increase the bond more quickly but if that’s not possible choose one of the presents they like. You can get presents by putting Monocoins in the MonoMono Machine at the school store. It’s located on the first floor in the school building. The machine’s also accessible in the main menu under Extra. The presents from the casino prize exchange counter are useful as well.
Giving It Up at the Hotel Kumasutra
Use the Love Key to spend the night with a student
—
The Key of Love is a present item you can get at the casino premium exchange counter for 10,000 medals. It’s available as soon as you get access to the casino in chapter 2.
Don’t waste your time collecting all those coins early on or spending all your Monocoins at the exchange counter. There’s a much faster way to obtain lots of coins once you are able to play the casino games on difficulty Mean (unlocks late into the game). If you want to know more about this check Casino Royale with Cheese
Anyway, back to the Giving it Up at the Hotel Kumasutra trophy. Starting at chapter 2, Monokuma will wake you up at night if you own a Key of Love item and let you watch a character’s Night Event at random. The trophy unlocks after watching your first Night Event.
While there isn’t a trophy for seeing all Night Events, you will have to go through the events anyway for the V3 Complete trophy (gallery completion). This means, you will have to earn enough coins to purchase 15 Key of Love items. It’s recommend to save the game before watching a Night Event and reload in case the wrong character appears. This way you won’t lose a Key of Love. If you don’t know which events you are still missing, check Intimacy Event under Extra in the main menu.
According to a Japanese wiki the characters don’t actually appear completely at random but in a certain pattern which changes every night. I couldn’t confirm this yet but apparently one of eight characters can appear in one night.
It’s impossible to complete all Night Events in the main story even if you choose chapter select to repeat the free time part. Once you beat the game, the extra mode Love Across the Universe: Dangan Salmon Team will be unlocked. This game lets you finish all missing Night Events. The event will trigger every night as long as you have the item for it. If you want to know more about this game, check A Bright Future Awaits Us.
We’re More Like Present Protectors
Collect every present
—
There are a total of 143 presents in the game and you need to collect all of them for this trophy.
You can get most presents (83 of 143) by putting Monocoins in the MonoMono Machine at the school store. It’s located on the first floor in the school building. The machine’s also accessible in the main menu under Extra.
To save Monocoins, only use one coin at the time. If you want to try your luck and put 10 or more Monocoins in the machine at once (higher chance of receiving missing presents) it’s recommend to save beforehand and reload in case you don’t get the present you want.
Another 33 presents are only available at the prize exchange counter at the casino. Not all of them are part of the prize list from the start. New ones will appear after reaching certain points in the main story.
All other presents are either story or Free Time Event related.
Check this spreadsheet for more details:
Hidden Challenge
Find a hidden Monokuma
Monokuma Wrangler
Find every hidden Monokuma
—
Missable!
Like in other Danganronpa games, you will be able to collect Hidden Monokuma, which are scattered around the school. There are five Hidden Monokuma included in every chapter, 30 in total. Make sure to get all five before starting the next chapter. Otherwise you will have to repeat the free time part of a chapter and/or the Class Trial.
Note: The last Hidden Monokuma of a chapter’s always located in one of the Class Trial mini games
Check this spreadsheet for information on every Hidden Monokuma:
This Japanese site shows screenshots of the locations (character spoiler!): Hikarugennjinn
King of Redecorating
Slap around objects at least 1,000 times
—
You can slap furniture and objects with R1. Just keep spamming it in every new room you see and you will eventually get this trophy.
If you still haven’t reached 1,000 times by the end of the game, choose chapter select in the main menu and select the free time part of a chapter you like. Pay all three classrooms, library, warehouse and dining hall a visit and slap everything you see. Repeat this if necessary.
True Discipline Come from Within
Achieve the maximum level
—
Another returning gameplay element is the possibility to increase your level and unlock more skill slots. You will get experience points for every action: walking around, talking to people, examining things, slapping objects, receiving Truth Bullets, finishing Free Time Events and playing games at the casino.
By the end of the game you will be most likely around Level 70-80. Since you need to reach Level 99 for this trophy, there’s still a lot of grinding involved.
Before doing mindless grinding, try increasing your level by focusing on the casino game related trophies. They will require some practice which means more EXP for you! You will also receive EXP while working towards the V3 Complete trophy through Monocoin farming and finishing the Free Time Events in chapter 1.
If that’s still not enough repeat the investigation part of chapter 5. This will give you one and a half to two level ups per investigation.
V3 Complete
Unlock the entire gallery
This includes:
- Event Gallery (849 Monocoins to unlock everything)
- Movie Gallery (280 Monocoins to unlock everything)
- Artwork Gallery (100 Monocoins to unlock everything)
- BGM Gallery (395 Monocoins to unlock everything)
- Intimacy Event (795 Monocoins to unlock everything)
The MAX amount of Monocoins you can hold is 999 Monocoins. Without farming you won’t get anywhere with this. Before I get to explain the farming methods, there’s something else to write about: how to actually get the gallery filled up.
Most of the content will be added to the gallery by playing through the main story but there are some missable event pictures and the Intimacy Event section requires some extra work.
In chapter 3, while investigating new areas, you want to pay the Ultimate Inventor Lab a visit when the game mentions it. Make sure to examine the bar in the Ultimate Cosplayer Lab, as you enter it for the first time, in chapter 4 for another event picture. I’m not entirely sure but it feels like both are missable, that’s why I’m listing them here.
Next up are special items which unlock hidden optional events if you talk to the right character at the right time. You have to show them the item they want, otherwise it won’t work.
Here’s a list of the presents you need from the MonoMono Machine and how to see the events:
Present: No. 28: Nail Brush
Time: Chapter 1, third day in the morning
Talk to Tsumugi on the way to the dining hall before the first free time. You can find her on the 1st floor in front of the girl’s bathroom. The event itself plays during the second free time of the chapter.
If you have cleared the demo version of Danganronpa V3 and imported your save to the full game you already own a Nail Brush and can unlock the event right away. If you play the game without the bonus item from the demo you won’t be able to see this event because the school store’s still locked at that time. Once you got the Nail Brush from the MonoMono Machine choose chapter select from the main menu and start the chapter from the beginning.
—
Present: No. 78: Everywhere Parasol
Time: Chapter 2, first day in the morning
Talk to the girl in the entrance hall
Present: No. 62: Commemorative Medal Set
Time: Chapter 2, fourth day in the morning
Talk to the girl in the courtyard, near the resting place
—
Present: No. 111: Gun of Man’s Passion
Time: Chapter 3, third day in the morning
Talk to the two girls in the courtyard, on the way to the school building
—
Present: No. 113: Dark Belt
Time: Chapter 4, second day in the morning
Talk to the girl in the courtyard
Present: No. 112: Pure-White Practice Sword
Time: Chapter 4, third day in the morning
Talk to the guy in the courtyard, standing next to the dorms
—
After this is done let’s go back to the first free time part of chapter 1 and finish all characters Free Time Events. There are 30 in total, two for each character. All characters are available at this time but there’s a bug going on with Angie’s second Free Time Event. Normally you can just save and repeat the first free time part over and over again but if Angie’s event doesn’t trigger, skip to the next free time part and you will be able to see it.
You can combine collecting Free Time Events and farming Monocoins. Every time you repeat chapter 1’s free time make sure to go to all three classrooms, the library, the girl’s bathroom, the warehouse and the dining hall and slap all the furniture/objects. You should get around 130-140 Monocoins each time.
There’s another Monocoin farming method but that one requires you to skip through the first class trial. I think it’s better to go furniture/object slapping but if you decide to use this method, equip Maki’s personal skill Financing. This skill increases the amount of Monocoins obtained after class trials. Depending on how well you do, you can get around 440-460 Monocoins each time. You will have to finish all of Maki’s Free Time Events to obtain the skill.
You will also have to see all of the Night Events. Check Giving It Up at the Hotel Kumasutra for a description on how to collect them.
No Stopping This Outlaw
Achieved an S-Rank on Mean difficulty in OUTLAW RUN
—
Outlaw Run’s a casino racing game which unlocks in chapter 3.
You will have to collect 20,000 points to achieve S-Rank on Mean difficulty. It requires some practice and luck but should be manageable in around 1-2 hours.
- Press the accelerate button at the same time as START / GO appears on-screen for a faster start
- Memorize the course, the placements of other cars and the targets
- there’s a narrow road part which requires some skill to get through. If you are too slow, other cars will make their way to this part and it becomes impossible to avoid them.
- It doesn’t matter which targets you gather (man or woman). They both give the same amount of points
- Regularly collecting targets will build up a combo. Higher combo = more points! It goes up to 100 points per target. The combo goes back to zero if you run into a car or wait too long with collecting the next target
- Pay attention towards Monokid and Monodam because both are necessary for achieving S-Rank. They are randomly placed on the course
- Monokid gives you a speed boost for a limited time. It’s necessary to get them, so you still have enough time left at the last part of the course but it becomes difficult to avoid cars/collect targets while this is in effect.
- Monodam’s worth 1,000 points (100 points if your combo broke)
- It’s important to reach the last part of the course because it has the most targets, Monokids and Monodams.
Fisher King
Achieved an S-Rank on Mean difficulty in SALMON FISHING
—
Salmon Fishing’s one of the casino games and available from the start. You will have to collect 4,700 points to achieve S-Rank on Mean difficulty.
Your goal in this game’s to catch as many fish as possible in a set period of time.
There are some rules to it, though:
- The fish come in three colors: green, blue and red.
- Monokuma shows which fish, swimming across the screen, he wants you to catch.
- You can build up a combo and collect more points by catching the right fishes.
- Most of the time you won’t see what’s on the screen, so you either have to illuminate it yourself (which drains a gauge) or wait until the game does it on its own (for around 1-2 seconds each time). You will have to memorize the fish on the screen and in which direction they are heading while being quick with catching them.
- If you see a torpedo, ignore it, because it knocks Monokuma out.
- If you see a Monodam tied to a torpedo, catch it! It gives you 1,000 points at once.
tip (by yomiell): Monokuma will always ask for three different colors, so once you get the first two fishes, get the third remaining color as quickly as possible. (e.g.: blue, green… get ready to catch a red one. then the cycle will restart with a random color, but it’ll always be using that same system.)
If you are good at catching fish it’s possible to achieve S-Rank with only one Monodam but usually you will have to aim for catching both of them. They tend to appear near the end of the game but are easy to miss.
Monolithic Achievement
Achieved an S-Rank on Mean difficulty in TREASURE HUNTER! MONOLITH
—
Treasure Hunter! Monolith’s a Minesweeper like casino game which unlocks in chapter 3.
You will have to collect 4,900 points to achieve S-Rank on Mean difficulty. A success depends on the arrangement of the blocks and treasure but you also have to know how the game works and get a feel for it. Even with that it can still take a very long time to unlock this trophy.
I played this games for over four hours straight with mixed results. Sometimes I got very close to S-Rank and sometimes I got nothing at all. That’s why’s it’s difficult to describe the best way on how to achieve S-Rank but I will try to list a few notable things:
Your goal’s to uncover as many treasure as possible by erasing colored blocks.
- You can only erase blocks if two of the same color stick together, it’s impossible to erase a single block.
- On Mean difficulty, you will have to deal with four different block colors: White, Blue, Pink and Orange
- If you erase a block the sourrounding blocks change their color.
- There’s a pattern to this: White -> Pink -> Orange -> Blue -> White
- Start with looking for a Monocub by randomly erasing blocks.
- Once you have uncovered a small part of a Monocub try uncovering them by paying attention to the placement of the blocks and the order of color changes. It’s pretty difficult at first but once you practice a little you should get the hang of it.
- You will have to uncover both Monocubs and 3-4 other Treasure to reach the necessary points. If you mess up it can still help to erase several blocks (sticking together) of the same color
That’s all I can tell you for now. If I happen to find some useful tips or techniques I will add them to the guide.
Lucky Number Seven
Get all 7s on the MonoMono Slots
—
This is a slot machine casino game, available right after unlocking the casino.
The only thing you need in order to earn this trophy is luck and a bit of patience. Just keep playing the slot machine with MAX bet and hope you either get an all 7s or a combination of 7s and WILDs.
Casino Royale with Cheese
Own more than 10,000 casino coins.
There are some easy (and quick) ways to gather lots of coins at once. Start with around 1,000 medals (exchange some Monocoins at the exchange counter). Save your game and then play either Outlaw Run or Salmon Fishing on Normal/Middle difficulty with MAX bet (999 medals). The goal’s to reach either Rank AAA or S. This will require some practice but it’s not that difficult compared to Mean difficulty. If you don’t get the result you want, reload the game and try again.
If you need more coins than just 10,000 play Outlaw Run or Salmon Fishing on Mean with MAX bet (9,999 medals). Once again you will be aiming for an AAA or S Rank. Don’t forget to save your game beforehand so you can reload if things don’t go well. It can take some tries depending on where and when Monodam shows up (and Monokid, if you are playing Outlaw Run).
There are other methods like playing MonoMono Slots or collecting Monocoins but both are very slow and not recommended. Especially because you need your Monocoins for other things as well.
A Bright Future Awaits Us
Reach the true ending in “Love Across the Universe”
Love Across the Universe: Dangan Salmon Team‘s one of the extra games you unlock by beating the main story. It’s similar to School Mode and Island Mode just without the annoying part which makes it an easy way to finish missing Free Time Events and Night Events.
The game gives you 10 days to find your true love and graduate together with them. You have to bring a character’s affection level to MAX (10) in order to achieve this. You will reach the first 5-6 level by clearing all Free Time Events (depending on present choices) but the rest requires you to go on dates (6-7 times per character). After the first day, you will be able to get Date Tickets and Monomergen-C from the casino premium exchange counter.
Date Tickets are necessary to ask a character out on a date. The Monomergen-C gives you an additional free time slot per day. Buy as many of them as possible!
Each day you will be able to see two Free Time or Date Events (three if you own Monomergen-C ) and the game sends you to the casino each night to either play a game or exchange prizes. If you have a Key of Love it activates a Night Event at random after you exit the casino. Save your game right before this if you aim for seeing specific Night Events so you can reload if it’s not the one you wanted. This pattern goes on until 10 days are over.
For this trophy you will have to get ALL character affection levels to MAX (10). After that, the true ending plays automatically after reaching the end of the game. It requires 3-4 playthroughs.
Note: Speak to Monokuma to check your current affection level. If a character visits your room and wants to go out with you, accept it! This won’t cost you a Date Ticket or a Free Time slot.
Check this spreadsheet for the best Date choices:
New Kid on Campus
Complete the Ultimate Talent Development Plan with one student
Masterful Development
Complete the Ultimate Talent Development Plan with every student, regardless of rarity
—
The Ultimate Talent Development Plan‘s a board game which unlocks after beating the main story. At the beginning you can choose from one of the Danganronpa V3 characters to attend Hope’s Peak Academy for three years.
Choose one of three courses: Normal Course (recommend for raising your level), Talent Course (recommend for collecting talent fragments and obtaining new skills) and the Friendship Course (recommend for random stat increases).
You can start with whatever course you like. Most of your movements over the board and on which field you land happens at random but you can control it to a certain extend with cards. You will receive cards from Monocubs and encountering characters on the field.
- Blue Square (Growth) – Increases Level
- Orange Square (Talent) – gives you a random amount of talent fragments
- Green Square (Event) – a random event happens, often combined with a choice. As a result one or several stats increases.
- Pink Square (Friendly) – a friendship event happens. Afterwards one or several stats increases
- Black Square (Despair) – avoid this field, it will decrease your stats. It’s safe to land on this square if you own a Hope Card
- Goal Square – reach this field to clear the course and be able to decide the next course on your own. If you fail to reach the goal until March, the Monocubs will send you to the Despair Course as a punishment.
For the New Kid on Campus trophy you will have to clear the board game once with any character. It takes around 15-20 minutes (three years/courses each time) per character.
The Masterful Development is very time consuming because it wants you to beat the board game with ALL 53 characters (16 from Danganronpa V3, 18 from Danganronpa 1, 19 from Danganronpa 2). The rarity level doesn’t matter but you first have to obtain all Danganronpa 1 und 2 characters from the Ultimate Death Card Machine. I suggest to focus on beating Despair Dungeon: Monokuma’s Test first and always develop different characters for your party.
For the remaining characters, you don’t have to actually reach the goal because you only aim for getting to the end of the game. Taking the exam each time would just slow things down. Start with the Normal Course in the First Year and let the Monocubs send you to the Despair Course in the Second and Third Year. Play with the small number dice and skip through all events. This way a playthrough should take around 10-12 minutes per character (thanks for confirming this method, 吳良永!).
Cards:
0 Move Card – Stay on current square
Character: Himiko, Chiaki, Toko
1 Move Card – Advance by 1 square

Passing Is Optional, Finishing is Mandatory
Clear the final exam of the Ultimate Talent Development Plan.
—
The final exam, in the Ultimate Talent Development Plan board game, happens at the end of the 3rd school year and requires you to win three consecutive battles. It’s recommended to pick a Sports Type U-card for this but it’s also possible to win this with one of the other Types. If you plan on beating Despair Dungeon: Monokuma’s Test you will be forced to go through the board game with more than one U-card. There are enough chances of passing the final exam and it’s not that difficult to achieve.
For developing an U-card, I recommend to choose the Normal Course first (aim for Growth squares and x2 Growth squares), the Talent Course next (aim for Talent squares and x2 Talent squares) and the Friendship Course last (aim for Event squares, Friendly squares are good as well). Don’t forget to reach the goal each time to avoid being send to the Despair Course as a punishment.
Be careful with accepting a surgery because it fails most of the time and causes a decrease in level and stats. You will receive a huge level boost if the surgery’s a success, though. Owning a Success Card prevents it from failing.
If possible MAX out Summer Rain Fist (or Falcon Kick) and Skill Power Up. The level and skill level of your party members depends on which card you own of them (N = low lvl, S = lvl 45 and U = lvl 99). They will be the most useful at lvl 99.
1st year exam:
3 Monokumamel
2nd year exam:
Monokuma Gather
Monokuma Hermit
Monokumantala
3rd year exam:
3 Monokumamel V
Monodragon Head V
Floor Monodragon V
Twisty Monokuma V
3 Monokumamel V2
The first two battles of the 3rd year exam should be very easy with an U-card and the skills I recommended. The enemies in the third battle are more powerful and attack with Falcon Kick (three consecutive attacks). If you can’t take them out in the first round, use the skill Sacrifice to protect yourself (if the other Sports Type has it). There isn’t anything more to say to this because the result depends on how well your character is developed and if they got the right stat increases.
The First of Many
Defeat the first boss of Despair Dungeon: Monokuma’s Test.
Reaching the Summit
Clear Despair Dungeon: Monokuma’s Test
Overcoming True Fear
Defeat the hidden boss in Despair Dungeon: Monokuma’s Test
—
Despair Dungeon: Monokuma’s Test‘s a Retro-JRPG which unlocks after clearing the Ultimate Talent Development Plan board game once. There are 100 floors altogether. For The First of Many trophy you will have to beat the boss on the 10th floor. After reaching the 50th floor and beating the final boss you will earn the Reaching the Summit trophy. Both aren’t that difficult to achieve if you keep developing characters and create equipment for them.
The Overcoming True Fear is a bit trickier because the later bosses deal heavy damage and inflict negative conditions. If you don’t develop characters (U-cards) with specific MAXed out skills it’s almost impossible to get past some of the bosses. The hidden boss is all the way down on the 100th floor.
There are 57 enemies in total (40 normal enemies, 10 bosses, 1 hidden boss and 6 optional bosses). You won’t earn any EXP in this game (the board game is the only way to level up your party) but enemies drop gold and material. Both are necessary to create better equipment and gold can also be used for the Ultimate Death Card Machine.

tips:
- Don’t ignore blue treasure chests. They contain useful equipment.
- make sure to always activate the elevator and save regularly
- if you want to avoid encounter, learn the skill Fog or take Nagito/Makoto with you. A successful escape depends on the luck stat.
- Develop a character with G Gain Up MAX and Material Drop Up MAX and take them with you if you want to farm along the way
—
Enemy elemental weaknesses:
- Red eye: no weakness
- Blue eye: weak to Ice Freeze
- Yellow eye: weak to Electric Paralyze
- Green eye: weak to Wind Jet
—
Optional bosses:
- Exisal Blue (Floor 25)
- Exisal Yellow (Floor 45)
- Exisal Green (Floor 48)
- Exisal Pink (Floor 75)
- Exisal Red (Floor 95)
- Exisal V3 (Floor 98)
These strong bosses are guarding a bunch of treasure chests (containing Ultimate Talent accessories and other stuff). Once you developed some U-cards, it’s possible to beat the Exisal on the lower floors. The others are for people who want an extra challenge and are willing to farm material and developing good cards. I only beat the ones on floor 25, 45 and 48 myself.

Some boss strategies:
Monokuma Insect V3
Floor 60
HP: 8,000
Uses: Ice Freeze All, Normal Attacks, Poison (All), Falcon Kick
Learn Ice Barrier MAX to protect your party from Ice Freeze All
—
Monotank V3
Floor 70
HP: 10,000
Uses: Normal Attacks, Sleep (All), Wind Jet All
Physical attacks/skills don’t work against this boss. Use Intelligence Type characters and magic based skills (Ice Freeze MAX + Ice Power Up MAX OR Electric Paralyze MAX + Electric Power Up MAX OR Wind Jet MAX + Wind Power Up MAX). Wind Barrier MAX is necessary to protect the party against the heavy Wind Jet All damage. If the boss cast Sleep on everyone, its follow up attack in the next turn will most likely be a Wind Jet All. With Wind Barrier in effect it only does 1 damage and cancels sleep so you don’t need any skills for preventing conditions.
—
Monokuma Boss V3
Floor 80
HP: 13,000
Uses: Zeal, Summer Rain Fist, Normal Attacks
Aim for high agility stats (over 400) to avoid its fatal Summer Rain Fist. Its attacks deal heavy damage and Zeal can’t be stopped, so if you can’t avoid them, have Fighting Spirit MAX (resurrect all allies) and Recover Influence MAX (recovers Influence of all allies) ready.
—
Mon’Duba V3
Floor 90
HP: 20,000
Uses: Electric Paralyze All, All Down (All), Blind (All), Normal Attacks, Wind Jet
Give a character Electric Barrier MAX and Cure Condition MAX (cures conditions of all allies). It’s not hard to beat if you make use of these skills.
—
Monokoppa V3
Floor 100
HP: 40,000
Uses: All Up, Falcon Kick, Ice Freeze All, Normal Attacks
Use Ice Barrier MAX to protect your party from Ice Freeze All. If the boss uses All Up (increases all stats), cancel it with the skill Debuff.
—
Hidden Boss
Floor 100
HP: 65,000
Uses: Despair (All), Confuse (All), Summer Rain Fist, Wind Jet All, Normal Attacks
Recommended Party/Skills:
Sports Type U-card (lvl 99):
Falcon Kick MAX
Zeal MAX
Ultra Defense MAX (can also be lvl 6-9)
(optional: Skill Power Up)
Sports Type U-card (lvl 99):
Falcon Kick MAX
Zeal MAX
Ultra Defense MAX (can also be lvl 6-9)
(optional: Skill Power Up, Wind Barrier lvl 8-MAX)
Intelligence Type U-card (lvl 99):
Energize MAX
Fighting Spirit MAX
Ultra Defense MAX (can also be lvl 6-9)
(optional: Electric Paralyze, Electric Power)
Variety Type U-card (lvl 99):
Recover Influence MAX
Fighting Spirit MAX
Ultra Defense MAX (can also be lvl 6-9)
(optional: Cure Condition MAX)
If possible level all four characters up to 99 and aim for high stats and getting the recommended skills to MAX level (or as high as possible). Get at least one of the Sports Type characters to 999 strength. High Influence and Focus is necessary for all characters, high agility and defense also help a lot. It’s better to have two characters with Fighting Spirit in case one of them dies.
If you still have talent fragments left, use them to learn the optional skills. Cure Condition’s for cases you screw up and forget to use Ultra Defense. Otherwise it’s not needed. Skill Power Up helps with increasing the power of Falcon Kick and Wind Barrier reduces the damage of Wind Jet All.
Skill Explanation:
Falcon Kick MAX: Four consecutive attacks on one enemy
Ultra Defense: prevent conditions and less damage for one turn
Energize MAX: Energize all allies (Awakening gauge fills faster)
Zeal: Strength increases next turn
Recover Influence MAX: Recover Influence of all allies
Wind Barrier: Decreases wind damage taken
Fighting Spirit MAX: Resurrect all allies
Cure Condition MAX: Cures conditions of all allies
The hidden boss uses a fixed attack pattern for the first 15 turns:
1st Turn:
Boss uses Despair on all.
Protect yourself with Ultra Defense.
2nd Turn:
Boss attacks with skill (on all)/magic (on all)/normal.
Use Zeal, Energize, (optional: Wind Barrier),…
3rd Turn:
Boss attacks with skill (on all)/magic (on all)/normal.
Use Falcon Kick, Recover Influence,…
4th Turn:
Boss uses Confuse on all.
Protect yourself with Ultra Defense.
5th Turn:
Boss attacks with skill (on all)/magic (on all)/normal.
Use Zeal, Recover Influence,…
6th Turn:
Boss attacks with skill (on all)/magic (on all)/normal.
Use Falcon Kick, Recover Influence,…
7th Turn:
Boss uses Despair/Confuse on all.
Protect yourself with Ultra Defense.
…
This pattern goes on until turn 15, the boss starts using attacks more often and less negative status conditions afterwards.
That’s All, Folks!
Obtain all the Ultimate cards.
—
This trophy unlocks after obtaining ALL Death Cards from the Ultimate Death Card Machine. This machine becomes available at the same time as the Ultimate Talent Development Plan board game but can only be played after gaining gold from battles or treasure chests in the Despair Dungeon: Monokuma’s Test RPG.
There are 159 cards in total (54 from Danganronpa 1, 57 from Danganronpa 2 and 48 from Danganronpa V3)
At first you will only be able to obtain low rarity level cards. In order to increase the rates you have to reach certain dungeon floors in Monokuma’s Test. The cards you pull can be used for developing in the board game.
Here are the rates:
- Rank 01: N:99.0%, S:1.0%, U:0.0% (default)
- Rank 02: N:97.0%, S:3.0%, U:0.0% (11th floor)
- Rank 03: N:93.0%, S:7.0%, U:0.0% (21th floor)
- Rank 04: N:85.0%, S:14.5%, U:0.5% (31th floor)
- Rank 05: N:75.0%, S:24.0%, U:1.0% (41th floor)
- Rank 06: N:62.0%, S:33.0%, U:5.0% (51th floor)
- Rank 07: N:52.0%, S:38.0%, U:10.0% (61th floor)
- Rank 08: N:45.0%, S:40.0%, U:15.0% (71th floor)
- Rank 09: N:40.0%, S:40.0%, U:20.0% (81th floor)
- Rank 10: N:34.0%, S:33.0%, U:33.0% (91th floor)
The game makes it impossible to cheat or reroll because it automatically saves right before a pull, but there’s a way to bypass this.
- save your game in two different save slots
- do a Death Card Machine pull/use a S-Ticket/U-Ticket
- is it the card(s) you wanted? Save your game again in BOTH slots
- are all the cards doubles? exit out of the main menu and load the other save, then overwrite the bad pull save.
- Since you reloaded your game you will have the gold or S-Ticket/U-Ticket back and can give it another try. Just always make sure to keep both save files updated! Otherwise this trick won’t work.

Please add another tip to the Fisher King trophy as this really helps a lot with catching fish: Monokuma will always ask for three different colors, so once you get the first two fishes, get the third remaining color as quickly as possible. (e.g.: blue, green… get ready to catch a red one. then the cycle will restart with a random color, but it’lll always be using that same system.)
thanks for the tip! I’ll add your text to the guide, with a mention that it’s from you!
Regarding Masterful Development trophy, do you have to clear the goal for every year?
That’s the only trophy I’m still missing (and currently working on) but it shouldn’t matter if you reach the goal or not because you can’t fail the board game. Even if you being send to the Despair Course and don’t take the exam, you will still graduate (complete the game) after three years.
I actually looked this up once and heard from someone that picking the Friendship Course, randomly moving around and playing the Despair Course twice afterwards is a fast way to finish the board game. Still haven’t tried this but want to do it the next time I’m playing the game.
If I don’t get level 99 (or max skills) in 3 years with a card, what should I do? Start over or is there a way to keep leveling it?
The only way to level a card’s through the board game. Reaching lvl 99 and MAXing more than one skill’s only possible with an U-card. Since the board game’s mostly luck based it doesn’t always go well. If that’s the case, choose a different character and give it another try but a character can still be good enough with lvl 90 and a MAXed skill less. It depends on the stats (+ equipment) and the skill.
Yeah I got the trophy and can confirm that you only need to finish 3 year development without reaching the goal for every year. So that you can just roll the small number dice to not reach the goal and sent to Despair Course, by the way I suggest not doing Friendship Course because it’s full of Event Square that will just prolong the grinding. By doing that it’ll shaevd off 5 minutes per character which would save a total of 4-5~ hours of grinding.
Thanks for the confirmation. I’ll add it to the guide!
You should post this on playstationtrophies.org. Awesome guide btw! Thanks!
You’re welcome! I only post guides on my blog (and sometimes on Steam) but feel free to share the link to my guide on other sites!
For anyone having trouble playing Treasure Hunter like me, each color block has dots on them that correspond with their place in the pattern.
White = 1, Pink = 2, Orange = 3, Blue = 4
Might be a little hard to see on Vita, but PS4/PC should be fine. I found it easier to play looking at the dots knowing that the pattern was just (1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 1).
Awesome guide by the way!
that’s a good tip, I never thought about this tbh. thank you!
I’ll add it to the guide as soon as possible
