Akatsuki no Goei

I’m back with another monthly loot blog post! Since I need my money for more important stuff (obtaining a driver’s license’s super expensive in Germany orz) I won’t be able to buy much in the next months. Eikoku Tantei Mysteria the Crown would have been on my February list but I pre ordered it together with Coven and the Labyrinth of Refrain and that one got delayed to June. Still pissed about that because Mysteria’s one of my Most Wanted games…

Root Double

I’m not sure if you all have heard about the Visual Novel Root Double -Before Crime * After Days- Xtend Edition getting a west release thanks to Sekai Project and Lemnisca Translations. They are running a kickstarter for the game and plan to get it out on Steam around March 2016 (with a PlayStation Vita version following 2017). There’s only one problem…it still looks like the game won’t reach the initial goal.

To be honest I don’t really approve that Sekai Project relies on its ‘fans’ to give them money for all the stuff they want to bring out. Kickstarter’s a nice way for small companies who want to create a game but need help to get everything together. Root Double on the other hand’s a complete Visual Novel and Lemnisca already worked on the translation before Sekai Project decided to pick it up. A kickstarter doesn’t seem necessary to me.

It doesn’t even look like Sekai Project put much work into the kickstarter project itself. Instead of having everything ready from the start, they throw in dozen of updates with small information details and videos and keep on correcting the tiers. I’m not sure if they got overly confident because of the huge success of some of their other kickstarter projects but it slowly goes downhill for the publisher. People are fed up with it…

Very sad to see that Root Double’s affected by it because I really want to see this truly amazing Visual Novel in English. I even planned to make an exception and throw in some money to snatch a physical copy but it’s impossible without PayPal support.

The main reason I write this post isn’t a rant about Sekai Project and their way of handling localization (even if it looks like it) but to make some more people aware of the exists of Root Double and its planned English release. If you like games like Zero Escape (999, Virtue’s Last Reward) and Ever 17 or are simply interested in trapped-themed Visual Novels with some nice bad ends, you should take a closer look at this game. To read the story and character description pay the kickstarter page a visit!

Opening Movie:

If Root Double manages to get funded and released in English you can look forward to see a guide on my blog!

Update:

It was a close call but the Root Double kickstarter reached its initial goal just in time. Sadly, it wasn’t enough for the first strech goal but it can’t be helped. Since PayPal support was added pretty late, Sekai Project decided to let it run for another week. you can still back Root Double via PayPal over at this website https://crowdfunding.sekaiproject.com/

Of course, I’ll keep my promise and write a walkthrough for Root Double.

lovely blog award

Memes are about everywhere, aren’t they? Seriously, I even had to look up what the One Lovely Blog Award‘s about because I rarely fill out any memes. Turns out it’s just posting some facts about you. Sounds easy enough but I hate to reveal personal stuff online so I’ll stick to my interests and some random facts I’ve no problem sharing.
I’ve been nominated by LeafyDream. Thank you!

Rules:

  1. You must thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog.
  2. You must list the rules and display the award.
  3. You must add 7 facts about yourself.
  4. You must nominate 15 other bloggers.

7 Facts About me:

1. I tend to like white-haired characters (with red eyes) and I can also get easily obsessed with reverse traps. My love for Kino and Naoto Shirogane will never die down.

2. I used to be into shounen-ai which was introduced to me by my best friend. It completely changed someday and I started to feel disgust towards it. Surprisingly it doesn’t apply to Sorey x Mikleo (Tales of Zestiria) because it somehow feels natural to me to see them together.

Sometimes hints or certain characters in anime/games are getting on my nerves, it’s even worse with shoujo-ai. Characters who are the cause for it and do it in a super annoying way (every time they see the character they like) end up getting all my hate. It’s the reason I was unable to continue watching To Aru Kakagu no Railgun and even though she has her good times I’m glad Seiko isn’t in all the chapters in Corpse Party. I don’t even feel sorry for her that Naomi’s a crush on Satoshi and only sees her as a close friend.

3. I mainly like to ship hetero pairings which are hinted at, considered canon or feel like they belong together. For example Asbel and Cheria from Tales of Graces or Hinata and Nanami from Danganronpa 2. In Visual Novels with character routes and Otome Games I either end up without a pairing or only stick to the pairing I think’s the most fitting imo. In Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly I’m basically unable to accept any other pairing because of a thing that’s revealed in the game. I won’t say which pairing but you’ll see for yourself if you play the game.

4. I greatly dislike the taste and smell of meat. I’m a picky eater in general which makes it hard to decide what to order in a restaurant. Lately I can’t even stomach sweets like chocolate I used to like to eat a lot until some months ago.

5. I refused to play certain genres for a long time and only slowly started to open up to them. I don’t care anymore if a game’s a SRPG or first person dungeon crawler as long as the characters are likeable and interesting. Just don’t give me a party with completely random characters, without any personality and lines to speak. That would kill my motivation really fast. In the last 4-5 years I got into eroge and Otome Games. Both are genres I never thought I’d ever touch because of elements I dislike (mainly hentai scenes and shoujo stuff). There are only a few games I really enjoyed so far but more and more titles begin to look interesting/appealing to me.

6. Complain about anime with harem, RomCom or fanservice elements as much as you want. It doesn’t change the fact that I find many of them (very) entertaining to watch. I even got to hear that I have ‘shit taste’ for liking shows like that and it’s pissing me off.

There are things I don’t care about as long as I get something enjoyable, even if that something comes without any originality and with character stereotypes you see over and over again. It’s true that there are enough light novels using the same or similar setting or basically copy content but as long as the adaptions turn out to be entertaining it works for me. I don’t give anime like Date A Live or Trinity Seven high scores without a reason. It means I truly liked them.

A current example’s probably Musaigen no Phantom World. I see people being disappointed or complaining about how stupid the show is but I personally liked the first two episodes a lot and I’m glad KyoAni’s working on it. The style and quality of the series look very nice.

7. I have a huge backlog of games and it’s only getting worse. Even with all the free time I have at the moment I don’t get anywhere. I often tell myself to only focus on the main story and ignore the rest so I can play through more games but that rarely works. I always want to see and explore everything in the first playthrough and I play games at my own (slow) pace. Most of the time I end up being surprised how quickly other people can finish them.

That’s all for now. If somebody nominates me again I might tell you about how much of a weirdo I really am…or better not haha
